    Whos got Boats?

I want to get a boat in the future, Ive been looking at the Lunds

they are a cost of a car, then you need a truck to tow it, so unless i win the lotto or come into some big $ this is just a dream for now.

Anyone own a lund? The closest dealer is in Dixon.
also a sales guy told me they can do loans up to 180 months so a hundred something a month payment would be so bad but you end up paying more in the long run of course.

Why spend so much for a non saltwater boat if you are on a budget? Plenty of cheaper boats that could do the same thing in flat water. Hopefully you are looking at used options.

2002 cobalt 226 with a 496. Bought it used. Will post pics later. Really want an aluminum jet so I can run our rivers for fishing.

With all of the recent dupe threads on how the CA reservoir system is dry... you might find a GREAT price on a boat....

I have the best thing... a few friends with Sail Boats. I bring drinks and food and they get to pay $500 per month is slip fees and a few thousand a year in maintenance...

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

I sold Lunds at one time. They were the aluminum boat that the others looked up to. The majority of people who were buying them were using them on the Great Lakes where extreme water and weather conditions occurred quite frequently. I've been out of the boat business for a while so I don't know if they've maintained the quality.

Now along with the Lund's, we also carried Sylvan, Crestliner, Lowes, and Alumacraft, which were all good boats in their own ways. Most of the designs were copied by all the manufacturers, so they virtually look the same.

My advice is to NOT fall for the long finance route. If you have to stretch out payments that far, honestly, you cannot afford the boat. There is nothing wrong with a used boat if you have it looked over just as you would when buying a used car. It will be a lot cheaper and you can probably get a few items tossed in that the seller won't need anymore.

I would start a kitty and put a few dollars in it regularly. Also if you aren't a member of a credit union, you should join one. They are very liberal with loans and you can probably get one for a used boat too.

Keep an eye on Craigslist to get an idea what's out there and prices being asked and also hang around boat ramps to get an idea of what style you like.
You may not like guns, and choose not to own one. That is your right. You might not believe in God. That is your choice. However, if someone breaks into your home, the first two things you're going to do are, 1) Call someone with a gun, 2) Pray they get there in time.

Main purpose is to use it for fishing on lakes. New is great but not needed.
Just that the new lund's have the nice features of rod storage, live well, other storage and other stuff. Yes its true, reservoirs are drying up might be able to get a good deal! haha.

Again this is just thoughts for now. Ill be inheriting a Tacoma in the future so that part is taken care of.

The more storage you have can be good or bad. The good, it gets most everything stowed away so it's not stepped on, tripped over, or goes overboard. Nothing worse than being on the water and someone steps on your $200 outfit and breaks the rod, or you watch it sink slowly to the bottom of the lake.

The downside with a lot of storage, is people tend to bring more than what they need adding weight to the boat which then in turn uses more gas in the tow vehicle to get to the lake, and more gas on the water.

Hewescraft 18.5 Open Fisherman center console. 90hp Honda. I'll have this boat till I die. Keep shopping till you find the style boat that fits your expectations. Took me a year of going out fishing on friends boats, renting, and researching.

If flys, floats or fux, it's cheaper to rent it.
