    First successful duck hunt!

1canvasback and 2 coot. Game warden said I should seriously consider mounting it. It's in great shape since I only hit the neck. Any recomendations?

Are you going to cook them for Christmas?

    Congrats on your first hunt.

I would mount the Canvas Back. They are the king of ducks, IMO!

I wish it was the first hunt. The canvasback is getting mounted, the coots I'll probably eat tomorrow I've heard they aren't that good but I'm gonna try them.

          The duck is beautiful.
I had no idea the coot was a game bird. I get hundreds at the Wastewater facility I work at, they get under my work truck tires all the time.
They must like to eat something in the water ?
Make sure you cook it well.

          Another observation from work.
The ducks and geese all stay in the clean ponds. The coots hang in the poo.
The chair is against the wall...

I breasted out the coots. Not a lot if meat but in using my old milk bath trick. I'm gonna have them for lunch tomorrow. The canvasback is in the freezer heading to a taxidermist next week. Haven't decided if I want a standing or flying mount. It's 300 for a standing and 330 for flying.

I wish I could eat it and mount it. That bird is heavy and supposed to be the best eating duck of all. It's the first one shot on camp Pendleton this year.

                    Do a flying.

Here is a Ross Goose I shot in Texas. I chose this display because it shows a lot of the nicer areas of the bird.

Sorry for the bad picture, but it gives you an idea.

So, you're going to call in sick on Monday? I've eaten lots of things including ground squirrel and pigeon but, I draw the line at mud hens.
