Thanks! So, saying I am in Palmdale and I want to hunt quail somewhere close by, what department do I go through to buy a map showing where it is legal to hunt? BLM, CDFW, both?

I'm in Palmdale too. I have just recently got into hunting as well and have been out after coyote and bobcat a few times recently. In fact I have taken two bobcats this season and I only drive an hour to get to some good areas. I have also done some upland bird hunting in the valley. I'd be glad to teach you the little but I have already learned. Also, if you do need additional licensing go see Frank at "the gun shop" on Sierra hwy in Lancaster.
