Thread: Lots of "man with a gun" calls to the cops in D14. OMG honey, there is a man

Lots of calls of "man with a gun"

Thought I'd share with Cal Gunners, at least Dispatch reminds responding officers that it's deer season...

But, do you think any of them also know that it is LEGAL to carry concealed an unloaded firearm when going to and coming from hunting or fishing?

Had one of those yesterday in my county.

RP states a man walking alongside the road wearing camo with a rifle slung on his shoulder. Possibly walking toward a white chevy pickup that may or may not belong to him.

No mention of deer season. 2 CHP units enroute almost immediately. No SO units responded. Rural area of the county.

Happened to me in my driveway. I'm loading a CASED shotgun into the trunk of my car, when a young couple walks by, and I hear the wife say, "was that a gun, should we call the police".

Welcome to the future of America.

no brainer. Call Back "yes ma'am, a shotgun, I'm on my way to the range, everything is OK. If you feel the need to call the police, my name is XXXX, I'm going to XXX range, and my plate number is XXXXXXX. No worries, and have a nice day!"

I wonder if my neighbors would be that ignorant. I use a takedown case that people mistake for a musical instrument. I've been asked if that was a saxophone in there.

I know ONE of my neighbors IS that ignorant. He called the 5-0 on me while I was cleaning my guns in the garage. Had the roll up door open to clear out the smell Hoppes #9. LAPD showed but never got out of the car.
It was not a threat. It was an exaggerated response to an uncompromising stance. I was taught never to make a threat unless you are prepared to carry it out and I am not a fan of carrying anything. Even watching other people carrying things makes me uncomfortable. Mainly because of the possibility they may ask me to help.

Or reply back: "Omg.....is that stupid people walking down the street? Should I call the police? Guns are legal lady, mind your own F-ing business!"
