and I have a bear tag. Is this a legal take if I shoot the bear? Throw in another caveat that I'm using a motorized decoy.

Hmmm...good question. I doubt it would be legal due to some technicality because it's a game animal and not a non-game animal. Interesting though. -
Not legal. No electronic calls for big game. Doesnt matter if the bear was not your target species to bring in to the call. Once you shoot it, you have taken it illegally. (same with grey fox)Hic Ego Statio

Thanks Dave. I knew you would pop up and know. I'm at the tire shop and have been meaning to ask this for weeks but always forget.Originally posted by jmonte35Disagree. Always carry a hand call. It's hard to lip squeak a bear. They respond the best to a loud, continuous cottontail imitation.
At the first sign of a fox or bear, turn off the electronic caller. Continue with the hand call as loudly as you can. If the animal continues to respond, you have fulfilled your legal responsibility and the animal is now coming to a hand call. If it turns and leaves when you switch calls, no joy. We've asked a few wardens before and they have accepted the hand call solution.
Don't believe me either. I've only been hunting predators since before Foxpro was an itch. Get off the internet and go to the fish and game commission meeting when it's in your area. Ask one of the wardens ftf. Crowd sourcing quasi-legal information on a website hardly ever gets a satisfactory answer and is most often just plain wrong. You need an opinion from the guy who is most likely to write the cite when you validate the tag, not me or Dave.
"But a guy on CG told me... blah blah" is never going to be a good defense in court.Comment

I'm glad you've been hunting predators so long. Maybe you can share some knowledge instead of coming in here every two weeks acting like a jerk.Originally posted by jmonte35Disagree. I have no reason to not believe you; in fact I don't know why you changed your tone in the middle of your post. You could have left out the obligatory asshat attitude however as I was pretty sure from recalling memory since this topic has been covered in the past. As I stated above I was at the tire shop so utilizing the search feature was not an option.

We will have a better chance of calling in bears now since no dogs will be chasing them all over the Forrest .I like using an open reed hand call made by a member jawbreaker look him up if you want one that is proven to work.Originally Posted by olhunter View Post
