    [REVIEW] Kryptek Clothing

    Kryptek Highlander Extreme Weather Jacket

    First impressions:
The camo pattern is a beauty, the arms and body of the garment blend together seamlessly. You really get that Predator hunting mindset just by owning this! A trait talked about by the creators, Ex military members and experienced hunters.
The zippers are great quality with some type of material that semi closes over the zipped section eliminating any chance of water or debree entering through Murphy's law! The Velcro really is the best Velcro material I have owned, it sticks to the female counterpart with the smallest of available surface area and holds true.
The hood is zippered and removable, it's lined with two different materials internally, one being more rigid towards the brim, as to sit against a cap or hat.
The peripheral view is large for a hood, you can still see a fair degree to your left and right without having to turn your head. The hood has adjustable straps on left and right.
Internal wrist cuffs are great and are included, my arms are longer than most people so they do fit, but when wearing armor or hunting rigs it can be tight and cumbersome to me personally.
Arm pit zippers are available for cooling down during high output missions and general cooling down. They work great!
There are two internal pockets, one left one right. The right pocket has a zipper compartment with breathable mesh. The left pocket has an elastic top with a breathable mesh lining, slightly smaller but able to stretch to accommodate larger items.
The most important is the interior and exterior. The exterior is DWR treated and also very comfortable and quiet. Internally it's exceptional, less puffy than my Wild Things Tactical EWS and uniquely lined with an incredibly comfortable material, very smooth.

    FIELD TEST:
The weather was a low of 17 and a high of 42, in the first week of March in Southern Colorado. *The mission was coyote Hunting, underneath my Kryptek EWJ I wore an Arcteryx fleece, and over that a massif combat shirt incase I got too hot.

We did about 4 miles of walking through the few stands we called, and only during mid day, I'm guessing low 40's I had to open the armpit zippers. During our stands, which lasted 15-20 minutes I was totally and utterly comfortable.

I was NOT sweating as we approached the stand, to only suffer the bite of cold as the moisture sits and freezes. I was able to focus on the hunt rather than making mental notes about personal comfort levels. Getting back into the truck I was not rushing the jacket off me, it does an incredible job at keeping you warm but it also breathes well for a tight fitting snug jacket.

    CONCLUSION:
You really cannot beat the great value of this clothing! It has a great pattern that works in multi terrain, it does a magical job of taking the surrounding color scheme and reflecting it back to the viewer. Example, I stand next to green foliage and the green in the highlander pattern matches it flawlessly, now move a few feet to a dirt setting and the greens somehow fade into the more digital desert and flat dark earth tones, it's like wearing a chameleons skin.

The price is also outstanding, for such great materials and innovations you could expect to spend $400. For a little more than $200 you can own a great soft shell that will keep you comfortable through several climates. I cannot foresee any future hunts or cold weather excursions without my Kryptek Extreme Weather Jacket by my side!

More photos to come, and a Review for Kryptek Cadog Soft Shell Pants, krypton and Zeus Gloves!

    Good review.
Kryptek is a catchy name, I can see all the mall ninja AR fanboys on this site swearing by this camo in the near future.

Kryptek Highlander Cadog Soft Shell Pant Review

          First Impressions:
The same great pattern in a comfortable pant! This was my initial response, from the outer fabric to the fleece style interior lining. The knees are gusseted and have a slot for knee pad insertion and a velcro bungee suspenion system and stretch with every step. I will say these pants run a little snug in the crotch and overall they leave very little excess. I am over six foot and just shy of 200lbs, wearing a size medium I would reccomend if you do not have a "swimmers build" to go up one size.
Pockets are equal on both legs, the standard front and back, then a double cargo style pocket about 2 inches above the knee. The last pockets are about half way down the calf. The front pockets leave little room for my George castanza size wallet as the legs are very snug.
The ankles are equipped with adjustable bands and loops for securing them to foot apparel. The belt buckles easily accommodate large Rigger belts and also come with a bungee Velcro style tightening system on each hip.

          FIELD REPORT:
These are the first soft shell pants I've owned with interior inaulating properties. The fleece lining is incredibly soft, like downy detergent soft. My initial thoughts to a material such as this would be extreme heat and sweating. I was completely wrong, somehow this material magically regulates your temperature.
Lacking side zippers for ventilation had me worried as I suited up to climb a local peak with an elevation of + 1000ft, not a large task but definitely enough to get the heart rate up. A short walk of about one mile before the base of the mountain got my blood pumping and my adrenaline fueled.
The temperature was about 36f and it was 9:30am. As I made my way up the beaten trail the wind started to blow against my forward progress, with it came a slight relief from the heat of the friction beginning to occur from my thigh and the super sleek fleece lining. The pants allow the perfect amount of breathing to take place, not enough to make you cold when in static positions nor is it lacking. My legs may have perspiration occurring but the material breathes away the sweat even though most fleeces are natoriously the opposite.
I walked roughly 4.5 miles in these pants, and sat on the top of this ridge in 20-30 mph winds and was never uncomfortable. I have to admit I became fond of the snug fit, the fabric stretches and dies not constrict my movement but hugs my frame tight like well worn armor. I really can't put to words how much these products instill that hunter mentality when you put them on. I feel sleek, cunning and most of all comfortable. Hands down my best pant for weather under 55degrees.

On the last photo you can see some cacti plant, upon getting up I slipped and landed knee elbow and palm in thistles. Luckily the pants stopped all the needle sharp quills but the thinner Krypton glove let about 5 through, catching the remaining ten or so. Thank you Kryptek!
