I think it was last updated in like 1994 haha. I had it saved somewhere, I'll take a look.

THat LA COunty map is way out of date and the county fish and game commission told us years ago not to use it. Check with the local sheriff or http://www.firearmsmaps.com/

Your going to have to check with the sheriff's office in the area your going to hunt, or look up the current LA Co. Shooting Ordnance.
The last shooting maps LA Co. printed are long out dated, so the thousands they have in storage will never be released. I've personally discussed this with the chairman of the LACo Fish & Game Commission, and they have no intention to spend the money to update their Shooting Map in the foreseeable future.
A private vendor approached them with his version of the map, but they found that the boundaries were not surveyed, and inaccurate. So they do not endorse as accurate any maps that are currently in print.

If you've got a copy of the old map, at least you've got something. The old map is available at PredatorWild.com in the downloads/Regulations and Ordinances. After a cursory examination, the commercial map has the same shoot/no-shoot boundaries and it doesn't include the blue/development zones. Do NOT call the sheriff. They know nothing about shooting zones.

If you live there at Lake Hughes you already know it isn't good ground for coyotes. There are way too many houses around that tiny lake. The ridge is OK, but the road is crap.

The old LACo map is available here: http://www.scvquwf.com/LA%20Co.%20Closure%20Maps.htm

Preditorwild.com requires you to be a member with a certain number of posts to download anything there.

Just remember, the map is 18 years old, and a lot of open areas have been turned into housing tracts and commercial areas since then.

John, why not post the link in the first place? And you know damned good and well that no one driving a telephone at the Sheriff's office has a clue about the complex boundaries of the the shoot/no shoot areas. FUD. That doesn't happen at Heath's site.

If I tried to correct all the disinformation in this section of CG, I'd be here twice a day.

I tried to follow your suggestion, and get the link from the site you furnished. But like I said, you have to first join the site, which I did. Then you have to rack up so many posts before they allow you to download anything. So I went looking for another site for the download. That's when I posted the link here that everyone can use. I don't personally need it, because I have some of the old maps.
As to the Sheriff's knowing what areas you can shoot in or not, who do you think is going to stop you in the field? Showing them a print out of a 18 year old map is not going to convince them that you are right, and they are wrong. You basically need a copy of the LACo shooting ordnance with the legal descriptions of the areas you want to hunt/shoot at. Shooting maps are just picture illustrations of the legal boundaries set down by county ordnance. They need to be updated as the legal boundaries change.
The actual up to date county ordnance is available online for anyone who searches. Regretfully, you also have to be familiar with township boundaries and plot maps used by assessors/tax collectors to fully understand the boundaries. That's why a up to date map is so important. But that's not going to happen in LA Co. First off they (L.A. Co. Fish & Game Commission) were told that if they reissued a new shooting map, people would go out and shoot in those areas. And then there was a possibility of the county being liable for accidents, damage, injuries, etc. The commission was also given a extremely high cost estimate from the county for surveying and map printing costs. Which the commission is not willing to pay for.

Good information. I wish there is a new map for LA county.

You should have no problem hunting game in D11 between Castaic and Lake Hughes.

Go to the DFG site and download the hinting zones.
