    Wong Spearguns

Anyone else have one? I have a 50" hybrid but really want to get a 55 to 60 inch model. They are expensive but works of art.

I have a poseidonsub, ulusub, and a homemade, 60" 50" and 40" respectively. All midhandles and all with varying uses.

If you already have a 50" I'd definitely recommend a 60" as 50" and 55" are pretty similar. A 60" will give you that much more band pull and be better if you're out paddy hopping, or looking for c-bass on those nice clear days. Check out spearboard.com and the members items for sale on there as that's a good place to find some used guns.

Don't be too set on a wong also. If you can find a used 60" Poseidonsub (Steve Veros), Gil (Gilbert Gacula), or Mori (Mori can't remember last name) you will be getting a great custom gun that is as good if not better than a wong. Don't get me wrong, Daryl Wong makes some sick guns, but there are other makers out there that make some nice guns also.

I would avoid anything from Four Seas spearguns AT ALL COST though. This thread is only one of many that was posted by people who bought his product and regret it. http://spearboard.com/showthread.php?t=144722

Thanks, Thats great advice. I will look around. 60" it is... I was thinking 55 might be close in size to my 50. Your comment solidified it.

No worries. Check out www.spearboard.com Lots of good information on there and the California section is probably the busiest section on the site. The topic of what gun length to use, and whether to run a reel or floatline have been discussed about a thousand times so lots of info to pick through.

Also lots of idiots too though, so just try to pick your way through the drama when you're looking for info.

Keep an eye on the California section and the Members Items section though. I've picked up multiple spearguns off that site for about half of what they should have been sold for. Just gotta have an idea what you want and then claim it as soon as you can, kinda like the classifieds on here...

As someone that owns a 50" and a 60" I would again reinforce your choice of going with 60" for the second gun though. Where you at in SoCal? Might be working down south this summer and always looking to get in the water. People were picking up c-bass left and right a few weeks ago although it sounds a little slower now, hoping we get a little more offshore and islands action this summer though

THanks again. I posted a WTB add and ended up with with a wong 55 and 60 magnum. Both I mailed to Dr Wong to go through for me and make sure they are perfect. Im excited to get in the water with them. Im in OC most days.

Hit me up if you end up down here. I have been picking off halibut and once I get my two new ones back Im going looking for WSB. Ive wanted to get into the offshore game for a while but no boat yet...
