    Lifetime California Fishing License

I was thinking of getting a lifetime fishing license for my son. Dillon is turning 2 in August. I'm also thinking of getting one for myself as well....considering i'm an avid fisherman and been getting my license for the past 21 years. i'm only 37 now.

right now, the price is $492 for children 9 and under. $803.25 from 10-39.

what are your thoughts about it?

          Bought mine 10 years ago.

          It was a fantastic deal.

As others have said, they're not getting any cheaper.

Of course, if you're planning on moving out of state anytime soon, we'll, then it's a different story.

Don't waste your money. All hunting and fishing will be outlawed pretty soon.

Wait until your 62, the price will drop as low as a 0-6 y/o or something...but by that time, I think the price maybe as high as todays mid age lifetime license the way its going...

I debate if the fishing is worth it for me, some years I fish a lot some I do not fish at all. For your kid most definitely. The hunting pays out pretty quickly, especially if you do the Big Game enhancement.

Oh and if you do move out its ok. You will always have your Lifetime License in California no matter if you decide to move out of state.

done deal. i just sent a check for my son today. it said that it takes about a month to process. now, i have til the end of the year if i want one for my self. i'm going to call DFG and find out if they will give me credit for my current license. if they say yes, then i'm going to get one myself. if they say no, then i will just do it before the end of the year.

Unfortunately, they won't give you credit. Just wait until Nov. or Dec. and pick it up before the rates go up on 1/2013.

Good for you for getting one for your son!
Its an expensive hobby, but more expensive when you try and convince yourself you don't need what you really want.

Good Idea John. Let me know how that goes. I just purchased a fishing lic. for this year and it increased a dollar more from last year.
