    Turkey Eggs!!

Went bow hunting for turkeys the other day and stumbled across a hen guarding her clutch of eggs. I had no idea she was there only 4 feet away just sitting quietly hoping I would move away. All of a sudden she flew up and scared the bajezus out of me. She had a nice clutch of 15 eggs under her. Moved to a different area to not disturb the nest. Pretty cool to see turkeys thriving in the wild.

Very kewl find. Turkey nests get hit hard by coons and other animals like crows. A game camera study even showed deer will stomp them and eat the yokes. Where was the nest located? I usually find them under a tree of some sorts, I guess to shield the view from above from crows. I've also found them along a grassy fence line with no top cover.

It was under a large bush/ small tree in a big pile of twigs and brush that got piled up by a stream right next to it. Saw lots of coon tracks in the creek bed too so what you're saying makes a lot of sense.

Thats awesome. I find very few nests in the wild and have a hard time at home finding where my turkeys lay that i raise! Very crafty layers.

So do both wild and captive bred turkeys only breed and lay eggs once per year? Unlike chickens that lay fertile eggs year yound?
