Yes! I scored an A zone tag.

Point and D3-5.

Can get some nice bucks out of that Loyalton-Truckee Deer Herd. I’ve hunted them from C4, D3 and X6 before it was split. Took a few nice ones and seen a Monster hanging in the Idaho Butcher Shop in Susanville looked like a small steer in the early 90s that was taken in what is now x6a.

Thanks! Doing a high sierra pack trip so regardless of if we get into the bucks it will be a great time. The trout fishing will also be great!

After 6 years of coming up empty handed on on elk draws I've gone from famine to feast. As expected with 5 preference points, i drew a wyoming bull elk tag, which i'll try to fill with compound bow in zone 70. I shockingly also drew a bull tag in a great Utah zone..which is crazy given the number of points i had. the utah tag is a late season tag, so likely a rifle hunt...which I'm less excited about than archery these days...but its still going to be great. finally i got a Kansas whitetail tag again this year, which is kinda unusual since covid. Its going to be a fantastic but very busy fall hunting season.

I drew for 39/43, which is northeast of Mountain Home. The opener is mid-October, and if things go my way I'll draw for a neighboring state for the last week of October and the first week of November.

So far I have drawn that controlled hunt 4 times with 100% success.

I just checked Wyoming and nothing yet, it's only an hour into the 19th in this timezone though...

I might pick up an A zone tag, maybe D3-5; I spend enough time in the woods it almost seems prudent.

Maybe I should buy a bear tag...

CA C zone, Oregon muley and elk in controlled hunt areas. Didn't draw any of the 7 other states I tried for.
