    Trail Cam time

It may be early, but I just walked out to my field and OH BOY. 10:30 AM and theres a beautiful buck with what is going to be a nice rack......Hope he sticks around long enough for the batteries to charge in my camera. Thick velvet sprouts with large knots on the ends. I believe its one of the same ones that teased me all last year. I've been looking for droppings and tracks for 2 weeks now and found none...I thought the deer had disappeared. I guess now that they have those tender appendages they'll stay out of the thick brush....Pics if and when I get them.

Hmm the deer are cooperative today. I think I'll clean my trail cam lens

I saw a buck two weeks ago with about 9 inches on each side and they were pointing out and down.
9 inches and no sign of the horns even starting to turn up. He's going to be a monster!

I have two running around my neck of the woods now too. Neither looks to be a monster but they may end up being respectable. I would like to give them at least one more year...hopefully the poachers stay away......These two have been hanging around together......I've got quite a few pictures of them but these are the most recent. If one of them turns out to be a good 3 it will be cool to see him grow through pictures. We'll see if they stick around. Don't see why they wouldn't.

lol. It's legal if you pull it (somebody will check the regs but I don't have time right this second) 2 weeks or 30 days before the season opens. It's a fun way to see what you have around during the summer months.

Nice racks are much better. You can grab both sides of the rack to help stabilize while mounting.

technically you don't have to even pull it as long as you don't take an animal within 400 yds.

And not only do you have to pull it but you have to make sure there is no feed still left on the ground....that's where they get most people.

Nothing exciting in my first week of pictures (jack rabbits "oh cool, better get the big book of tags"), a few does, and this guy who managed to literally walk right under my tree stand to get this close to the camera. Looks like he sat down in the seep just down the trail.

I shall call him "Mud butt"

I got a cam for this year and I just set it yesterday. I'm dying to check it every day but I'll wait a week or so and check it and see what we're growing this year. I got a report of best in the area so hopefully he'll make an appearance.

Almost that time to pull the feeders and get ready.....lots of deer on the property right now and with the orchard starting to get fruit and good habitat I don't see these deer leaving....time will tell. Here's the a few of the bucks. No monsters but a few respectable black tails..
