Taking my 13yr nephew hunting/camping for the first time, Northern California, HELP!

Desperate hunter who needs community help. Willing to pay cash for help.

I moved to Northern California last year from Louisiana to live near my brother and his family after I divorced (no children). My 13 year old nephew has never hunted or fished a day in his life. So far I have failed miserably to make good on a promise I made to teach him survival skills and hunting (I'm ret. military). I gave him a 20 gauge Rem shotgun and a Savage model 16/.308 for his birthday last August and He's getting to be a great shot. I'm very proud of his accuracy, attention span and maturity.

When I first moved here I purchased a bundle of DFG/BLM maps online and spend months and hundreds of miles scouting around B4, B5, C4, D3, D4, D5 so far. I spend about $500 on gas. All I found was confusing roads with locked fire gates, ranches and private property in every turn. The maps are so difficult to read due to access roads not listed I'm so confused I don't know where is legal to hunt. I would like to get out in the wilderness maybe twice a month all year round. I really need to be active in the fresh air and nature to be happy, even if I don't take any game. I like to set up camp in the deep woods for a weekend, walk around with a gun or my bow where it's not crowded with bullets zipping past my head. It's breaking my heart so far I found nothing.

I'd really like to find a place for quail, rabbit, ground squirrel. To introduce my nephew to hunting. Then I'd really like to bring him pig hunting or something somewhere 2-3 hours max from Folsom city

I'm willing to pay $50 via paypal.com for an email exchange for locations. if you do not want to meet in person. I am only interested in locations in the following zones A North, B3, C4, X6a, X6b, X7a, X7b, D3, D4, D5

$100 cash for someone to meet me in person and mark a spot on the map for a prime public location in any of the following zones A North, B3, C4, X6a, X6b, X7a, X7b, D3, D4, D5

$250 cash for a meeting in person and an escorted drive to anywhere I can successfully hunt on public land with reasonable road or atv access in the following zones A North, B3, C4, X6a, X6b, X7a, X7b, D3, D4, D5

I have a 4x4 suv and a 2 passenger ATV for the guided escort. Or we can meet at the nearest city and take your 4x4. I'll fill up your tank, Whatever you prefer.

PM me or email me at 619art@gmail.com to arrange a meeting.

I pledge to keep any information absolutely confidential and never publicize the provided location.

    Thanks in advance,

    Edward

Make sure he gets a hunter education course first
Get that out of the way, so it won't hold you up when you find the spot

May I recommend a fishing/ camping trip.....there is much more access to fishing areas then hunting.

I'd recommend tree squirrel or jack rabbit for a first hunting trip (if for tree squirrel I can tell you a great spot, but cannot meet you because I live in the bay area, I can call you...), then for Pig... I would go private land.

Not much open for hunting in the hills. Private ranch guided hunt for pig is the best bet. Cost from $450-700 for 1-2 day hunt. If it is a good ranch you will have your pig the first day. Be carefull to use non-lead bullets in the "Condor Zone". Up north is a good area for ground squirrel killing.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

No need to pay anyone. Your in Folsom? Sierras east of you. You should have no problems with maps. Most gates are closed but will open up soon as spring is upon us.

West of you is lake and Mendocino counties. Lots of access there.

Farther north is also wide open. You need to read up on zones they all have differnt nuances about them. Ca is a huge state with many different climates.

Try to get some info on the Spenceville Wildlife area. It would be a good place to introduce him into both hunting and fishing. I live in Granite Bay and it takes a little over an hour to get there.
