    Nevada Yote Hunting

I am going out to Laughlin for a weekend and was planning on trying out some coyote hunting. I am under the impression that no license is required for coyote in nevada, since they are an unprotected species. One question though Jack rabbit are unprotected as well, do I need a license for them?

Also wondering if anyone knows where I can hunt around that area, within a short drive of the casinos? I have been doing research but am hardpressed to find much.

Also, what is the law regarding weopons? I was gonna bring my ak for em, if its legal, and probably a 22lr and 12gauge.

Any input would be highly appreciated.

No, you do NOT need a license for jacks or yotes.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was almost positive that was the case.

You may not need a Nevada hunting license, but I think you still need a California hunting license.

Really? Hmmm...What about a hunter safety certificate? First year hunter, and am waiting until July to buy a license...but I have taken the course.

                here it is

Coyotes are an unprotected species in Nevada. They can be hunted by both resident and non-residents in the state without a hunting license.

so go shoot em and show us the pixs

Trip Update....No Yotes. But never really tried for em.

Once I found out the temp was gonna be in the 100's, I didn't have much hope.
Pretty much determined it was gonna be a scouting trip.

Found a good location about 3 miles or so from the Casino's, BLM land to be exact.

After way to much gambling and drinkin the night before we got a late start.. my buddy and I got out around 8:00 AM. No we weren't drunk.

On the way out saw minimal wildlife, only a few birds. But when I stopped the truck a rabbit broke out right in front of us. So we hurry to load up, spot the little guy, only to determine its a cottontail not a jack. Bummer.

Scouted around and saw one more cottontail, a bunch of small birds, and even had a couple quail break infront of us. Unfortunately we didn't have a license for any of the game we saw.

But all in all it was a good trip for scouting. Gonna have to give it a try next winter, when it cools down again.
