    hunting by guzzlers

There are some old guzzlers near an area I may want to hunt in. Its close to my house. Do I have to stay away from them and if so, how far? Got to keep the ethics involved and it did just rain.

    Thanks.

As long as you are not "occupying" the area for more than 30min, you are good.

Yeah, I've got no interest in scaring the wildlife away from their water or hunting right there. That would be a d!ck move for sure. Its just a great out of the way place to park and hike from there. On google maps it shows some nice meadows and such within a miles hike from it.

Here's a recent thread that discusses this issue.

From the way I read the law, while HUNTING you should stay back 200 yards.

While the law reads that you cant park, camp, rest (includes hunting) etc. for over 30 min. I believe you could be cited if you are within 200 yards of the guzzler while hunting since you are engaged in the killing of some of the animals that use the guzzler to drink, at least I believe that would be the argument LEO would use while citing for being within 200 feet while hunting.

To me, the ethical action would be to stay 200 yards away when hunting.

In many cases you cant NOT hunt the guzzlers, they are just too close to the hunting grounds. Use your judgement. Guzzlers are there because of the hunters for the hunters. I have no issues hunting through guzzlers as upland hunting puts you on the move anyways. If you are parked any longer that 30 minutes at a guzzler, you are duck hunting.........

Ok thanks. My intention was only to park there and hike out from there. I will find another place to park.
