    First Time Hunter

I'm looking to go hunting however don't know where to start in terms of weapons and laws. I'd like to go for small game and something not too far from me. All I have is a .223, not sure if that would be alright for small game?

If anybody wants to take a first timer out, it would be much appreciated

    Where are you located?
If you have not yet taken the required hunter safety class, find one in your area. You can meet lots of people there. And since you HAVE to take it, it's a good start.

Im getting into hunting as well. I've shot guns for my whole life and while in the army, but never really hunted anything other than shooting the. Occasional yard pest on the ranch. If you want to come here to San Diego I'd be down. Just got my license today and I want to go hunt coyotes. Theres too many and keep bothering the goats and stuff.

I plan on hunting them with my mini-14. One question I cant find a concise answer too though is, can I hunt coyotes with a 10 round mag or do I have to use a 5 round mag?

Not meant as a threadjack as I noticed you were hunting with a .223 also.

10 round mag is just fine.
