    Tuna Fishing

Just got back from tuna fishing out of Half Moon Bay. They were biting and everyone seem to be catching some. The chatter on the radio was interesting. Some boats were getting 30-35 tuna using live bait. We got 14 tuna between two. Total of 66 lbs of fillets.

The water was smooth and the ride back was great except for the fog. We left after 3 orgas swam thru our fishing area. Crossed through a 1/4 mile of porpuse swimming about 10 across. Took all sorts of pics then found out the mem card was not in the camera.

If you can make it they are hitting and are about 35-40 miles out.

I got my tuna rig to go after the humbolt squid last year. I now can say I have a tuna rod instead of a squid rod. First time out and had a great time.

Big hint on squid. When you get one up to the boat the school follows. Don't fall over. Plus wear rain gear.

Stand off to the side and pull them over the rail while pointing them at your friends.

14 albacores and only 66lbs of fillets? How big were the albies? Who was doing the fillets?

66lb of fillets for 14 fish, 4.7lb ea, 4/fish, minus the dark meat and maybe the gaff damaged meat. Those are some nice 30lb albies! too bad there's no pix...

that's a nice YF, nahuatl! what boat was that? lots of room for under-over dance

here's a pic of getting inked!
