Been there. Killed hogs there. Been cited by the game warden there. Its a good place to hunt if you dont mind hiking the miles in. BE CAREFUL. The boundries are very vague and confusing. You can tresspass without even knowing it. Numerous people have been cited for tresspassing there over the years. The landowner closest to the entry of stockdale will check to see if there is anyone hunting there almost daily. If he sees your rig in the parking area he will call the warden and he will be waiting for you when you come out. When I was cited 12 years ago I crossed 30 yards of private unfenced land as I returned to my truck. The warden was watching from a hill top and I was cited. Why is the land owner such an azzhole? He is trying to establish a pattern of tresspassing so he can have stockdale road closed down. If he succedes then stockdale will become land locked and he can run his cattle on it. If you give it a try bring maps and a gps.

people need to pull a reversal on this nazi somehow, sting his *** with some type of citation for harassing hunters or something.

Or plan a very large group hunt get together with a group of cal gunners. Spend the night make a weekend out of it, all the while have the gps going so there is no dispute about the boundaries.

I was under the impression that in order to be cited with trespasing it had to be fenced or marked with no trespasing signs every so many yards from each sign? This sounds like something the F&G officers should be talking to him about doing.

              False Power Near Stockdale Mountain

The land owner that is owns the property adjacent to Stockdale Mountain is an ex-law enforcement officer (LEO). I ran into to him and his wife one summer three or four years ago. He and his wife were trying to take advantage of all the publicity of their numerous citizens arrest (they will arrest you themselves) to try and scare me away from the public property. On that particular day, his wife was using a vehicle on the public road to herd grazing cattle that were also on the public road and the shoulder of the public road. It was very hot and dry and the little remaining vegetation on any of the land was on the shoulder of the road.

Regarding the BLM-private property boundary, I walked the entire Stockdale Mountain boundary with a GPS and BLM boundary data and discovered that the ex-LEO has not marked his entire property’s boundary completely or correctly (especially that portion adjacent to Stockdale Mountain). There are large gaps of unmarked boundary areas.

If you get arrested or cited for trespassing then challenge the count by showing that they are not following California penal code regarding the proper designation of property boundary with no trespassing signs.

It appeared to me from talking to him that he knows numerous judges and district attorneys working in that county as if they were in his back pocket.

i used to hunt a place off peach tree and indian valley road. We were on the edge of one of the properties one time and I think that stockdale mt guy was the one who decided to chase us around in his truck one time.

Jabell, sounds good man. If you're wanting to do that, let me know. I'm always down for some armed "hiking"...and if all else fails, trading some manual labor and meat to take a piggy off of said ranch.

Someone really needs to sue his ***!!!! or have the county force his dumb *** post no trespassing signs or private property. To me it almost sounds like entrapment if he does not post signs and just calls the warden! I really hate idiots like this.

Oh it is entrapment and the game wardens are in on it. I also was cited in the 90's the owners in a guy name Kestner and the game warden at the time was an officer Solis. They made up information on the police report and lucky for me they messed up and I was able to prove it and the case was dismissed. If you bother going be very careful, but its not that great a place to hunt.

How is the quail hunting up there? I might just go up there with a pistol and take my dogs for a walk.
