CA Hunting License

So I have an Arizona non-resident hunting license that I got last year. My of my buddies mentioned that I could use that license to get a CA license without taking the test.

Does anyone know if that is true?

Here is a direct line from the DFG on what you need to get a hunting license.

A current hunting license or a hunting license issued in either of the two previous years from any state, province, European Country or South Africa
