Santa Ana River Lakes?

does anyone have any info on these lakes? I just started getting into fishing, extremely new to the sport. Gone out only twice, havent caught anything. I am thinking about going to these lakes and trying my luck, any info or comments would be appreciated.

hit or miss, to get to the good spots you have to be there early, and go the day after they plant. been there 2-3 times and have gotten one each time, and thats with trying, others in my group have gotten skunked.
It could be off the hook one week and dead the other, I actually think they do it on purpose to get people in and cash in the next week

i've been there twice and caught fish both times. it is hit or miss though.
