Good bass or trout fishing near Ventura county

My buddies and I have been fishing for bass up at lake matilaja but haven't been having any luck. Sadly none of us have a boat so we fish from shore. But I was wondering where u guys go and what you fish for and what you use. Hopefully you guys got some pointers. Thanks ahead of time.

Ya they reopened it. Fish and game has stopped us a couple times to check our licenses. So unless they recently closed it, its open for fishing. Not that we have had any luck as of late. Not even blue gill.

Lake Casitas just had a big trout stocking a few months back. A few double digit rainbows have been pulled out since then. Bass spawn is coming up so sight fishing should be fun.

what are you using for trout? anywhere in particular around the lake? like i said, we fish from shore, so it kind of limits us unfortunately.

+1 for Casitas, it can be tough there sometimes but there are some very large bass caught there
