Saw a dead antelope doe today on Highway 166

I drove over toward the coast today from Bakersfield on highway 166 and saw a dead antelope doe on the side of the road. The weird thing was this was about 20-25 miles east of highway 101 (Santa Maria) right by the "Rock Front Ranch" in the mountainous section of the coastal range.

We're used to seeing antelope in Kern County but this was way west of any type of normal antelope country.

Some PLM land nearby or Carrizo escapee?

Hopefully they're expanding a little and we can get some more tags issued for them. We have them up here in Tehachapi, but they're not seen a lot from the road.

They had a antelope season on the Carrizo plain for a few years, but dropped it because they say the herd is declining.
I know they hunt them up on Tejon, something like $4000 last I heard; too rich for my blood.
There's a bunch of other herds that not that many people know about. PLM hunted for big dollars for some of them.
I'll keep putting in for the far NE hunts.

I just apply in Wyoming for $235. If I don't get drawn they send $230 back to me and I get a preference point for the next draw.

I haven't started doind out of state yet, I barely even know where to hunt in this state.
And, I've never bagged any big game; mostly due to lack of days in the field.

I would have thought that with as many antelope they have there, they'd be giving tags away!
