Kinda like looking for a date at the bunny ranch, success is guaranteed if you have cash in hand. It may be a good place for a beginner to learn the basics but not the real thing.

      It's a petting zoo.

      Literally...

There is no hunting there, just shooting domestic animals that look wild...

I went there for my first hunting experience and it was pretty weak, goats are tied to ridges so u have a shot and the pigs cone up to u for food. I wouldn't call it hunting.

It's a hunting ranch that doesn't require a hunting license.

So, leave the rifle and go with a lance or a Ka-Bar - kill a pig like a Bavarian - all else is marksmanship.

It's what's known as a "canned hunt" as you are basically shooting livestock. That is why a hunting license is not required - it's not really hunting. But, I don't object to it nor do I want it outlawed or anything like that. I think a place like that is best used as a "practice hunt" and a stepping stone to a real hunt.

If you already have a hunting license, why not just hire a licensed guide for your first hunt? That's what I did my first time and chasing wild boar is exciting and I am glad I didn't go on a canned hunt.

It is as others have said, a "petting zoo" or hunting fish in a barrel. However, that said, if you LOVE to target shoot and you LOVE to pack your freezer; and you DO NOT have a lot of time/money, you can go here and satisfy your needs.

I went there with a buddy once. We knew it was not hunting, but just target shooting with a live target. That live target was walking pork chops! Freezer was full and I was back home in an hour.

It has its placed. For someone who needs some experience and is concerned about the tasks required after the shot is made, this would be a fine way to get started. I sure don't want to see a place like this outlawed or maligned. What is the quality of the meat at this place?

I shot a 250lbs pig there that was fantastic eating, pretty lean, they stock the ranch often, so you can pick and choose.

Not bad. Pretty darn good. It really depends on how fast you care for the meat after you blow it's brains out!
I tested a .45-70 there with iron sights. Loved it, blew the head apart, but saved the meat. That's what was important.
