Hows the hunting in Igo, CA (near Redding)

My friend has a ranch in Igo, Ca (over 200 acres) and says I can freely hunt there. He will write me a letter as well. I am from SoCal but was wondering if the hunting will justify the 10 hour drive. Thanks

EDIT: My friend just said it was 300 acres..not 200.

It should have a deer or two on it if it typical ranch property. But 200 acres is kind of small for too much hunting, just over 1/4 mi x 5/16 mi....

But who knows, could be quail, turkey, pig, ect crossing thru it....you probably need to make at least one trip just to check it out.

Do you use a 4x4? I probably will need a group of friends to go with me. Been trying to find someone up there that I can show me around.

Expect to use a 4x4 anywhere in Igo (Ono). 200 acres is plenty in that area to get a few good size bucks as long as your friend has property near the creeks in the area (otherwise very dry).

          Its pig country also.

Igo is about a stones throw to the south west of redding and a good portion of it backs up to the Wiskeytown area federal park. Make sure that you don't overstep any bounds. There is actaully a good fire truck road that runs between Igo and the Wiskeytown environmental camp out there that has some neat camping sites and abandoned gold mines to explore.

I will be spending the night in Igo this Tuesday, before a job interview Wednesday morning in Redding. Our friends have 40 acres. They have some wild turkey, the occasional deer, duck/geese on their pond. There are wild pigs in the hills too. Go up and scout it out. Plant some feed plots for next year. Beautiful country, hotter than snot in the summer!
