I have not found that to be the case. Copper seems to leave a long consistent wound channel. The most destructive has been SST. I will use ELD Match this year and expect similar destruction and frangibility.

Anyone getting extreme destruction with copper bullets?

Having shot animals with SGK, NBT, and TTSX; I prefer the lead cup and and core bullets to copper. I feel they are more likely to put game down more quickly with "standard" heart/lung shots. In my experience things shot with copper drop right there, or run up to 100+ yards. I've taken to shooting them in the shoulder with copper if I'm not in a wide open space. My previous experience with lead never saw an animal run more than 40 yards after the shot.Calguns.net, where everyone responding to your post is a Navy Force Delta Recon 6 Sniperator.Comment

As for destruction; since using copper bullets I've found that unless there's bone in it, I can eat right up to the hole.Calguns.net, where everyone responding to your post is a Navy Force Delta Recon 6 Sniperator.Comment

I have yet to recover a copper bullet from any of the pigs I've shot with them. 300BO and 308, both seem to have zipped right through them. Wound channels didn't seem overly large to me.sigpicLord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

I hunt with a 300 Win Mag, I've tried the GMX, to expand they need stupid high velocity, not a fan. TTSX are solid, though had a couple pencil through, had to spend half the night tracking a deer.
I started using the Hammer Hunter 181, love it, no blood shot meat, lungs turned to hamburger not jelly. My buddy uses them in the 214 grain, same thing.Become Ungovernable.Comment
