Took Monday off - went fishing

The middle fork of the Boise River did not disappoint. Spring runoff is in high gear, and the water was moving fast. We managed to find some areas where it was fish-able, and the Rainbow's were hungry. Had to work for it a bit, but we ended up 1 fish shy of two limits (we turned loose a couple of smaller ones).

My six, filleted out, came to 2.3 puonds.

You know what the best part of the day was? Taking a 1-1/2 hour snooze in the cool river sand under a big ol' shady pine tree. That's livin' large..... I didn't want to go home.

It's an Okuna Ultra Lite on an UglyStik 4'8" one piece rod, spooled with 4lb test line. It has never let me down, and is a ton of fun in action on rivers and creeks. The fish were looking up - I was using a small slit shot about two feet up from a #10 bait-hook holding a cut nightcrawler, and was fishing fast water over a deep section.

Not sure. For now, they are vaccu-sealed and frozen. I'll decide on how to cook them when it comes time to eat them. Smoking is the front runner, though!

We fish nearly the same I use a bass pro 4'-6" tinylite with a Cetus tica ss500 reel.

Ditto. Fenwick ultra lite with a gone thru Mitchell 308 reel. Use the heck out of it in the Eastern Sierra's. Same set-up I use at my buddies place in S/E Idaho.
