    X-9A Deer Tag

I finally drew a premium CA deer tag. Has anyone hunted this area?

Any hints on good hunt areas in X9A? The season is from 9-17 yo 10-10.

Get up high in elevation. Then look for water and food. . Good luck.

It all depends on the weather. They will be high until the weather pushes them down. Be prepared to hike in and stay high. Hopefully you are capable of 400 yard shots. Open, rocky, difficult terrain for spot and stalk. More effective to spot and wait for them to come to you. If the weather cooperates, the deer will be headed slowly down the mountain.

Been many years but hunting party score 4 out of 5 tags in the coulees and ravines on BLM land in the Eastern part of the zone close to Nevada. Tee shirt weather too. Get out there and find the water.

The higher you go the better, practice out to 500yds, put 15x or 18x around your neck leave the spotter in the truck.

I doubt any weather will push them down......it's always hot and dry.
Put them to bed and spot & stalk only if you have a partner to guide you in, that terrain is very deceiving.
