    Turkey Hunting Guide

Ok, it's that time of year again almost. The time of year where all of my Turkey draws come back "unsuccessful"

Anyone recommend any good guides for a Turkey hunt this season?

    Thanks.

There are plenty on public land and a fair number of private land owners who might let you hunt. I LOVE small acreage properties. I don't like having to keep to such a small area but they're perfect for archery & airgun hunting. Birds are unafraid, grow big and often give you second & third tries. One time, I missed 5 shots in a row with my recurve before finally connecting with a nice tom at about 22 yards. My shooting was terrible that day but the hunting was awesome! That doesn't even count the 3-4 times they came in right behind me, gobbled in my ear and left before I could get a shot.

Public land is certainly harder. But get out & walk around where the birds are and you'll find something to talk to. Eventually, you'll get lucky.

Anyone know if any private landowners offer for pay-to-play hunting opportunities for gobblers up near Julian CA?

Why not make it public so we can all learn who to stay away from and why?

                      Just a thought.

                        Good question/point for sure.

I'm happy to share information with fellow calgunners about my experiences over the years with guides but my goal isn't to publicly squash anyone or hurt anyone's business. You all know that internet posts last forever, and that guides might just have had a bad week, animals didn't cooperate, or whatever. If you search my previous posts you'll see guides I have recommended (and got accused of ulterior motives) but I guess I feel differently about making posts about guides/experiences that were less than ideal. Weird double standard maybe.

I lost faith that this even exists. I didnt think any private land owners in this state would be willing to let someone come on. figure you have to know someone or know someone that knows someone.

I used to see a bunch on the roads up around Palomar mountain.

RJ of Northwind outfitters is absolutely the best. I got my first turkey with him. you can book directly on their website as well.
