Comments on Vortex Crossfire II "Hog Hunter" 3-12 x 56

Anyone have experience with the scope? Is it good, bad or ugly? Specs look decent.

Too tall, get a 3x9-40 for faster target acquisition and for a wider FOV. Hunters need to know what type of platform, bolt, simi, AR?

The only benefit that larger objective lens offer is the ability to collect light, better for low light conditions. Might require a cheek raiser to get that scope to work properly.

myeh, i would not put a crossfire on any hunting rifle from what I've seen through them. Go to cameraland and buy a Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 for $159 plus shipping and you will be as happy as a pig in poo.

I saw Doug posted an ad on the 24hourcampfire B/S/T/ forums for them yesterday. Burris is good hunting stuff.

No comment on Vortex products, as I don't own any. However, if you are going to be hiking with it, you will likely appreciate a smaller lighter scope. A 3-9x40 of the same Crossfire II line would save you 7 ounces. Your shoulder will thank you.

Have one that I used on my AR and now on my Compass 308 - great little inexpensive clear 3-9!

Then get 3-9x40, Vortex is top notch, the object is to set the scope closest (lowest) to the barrel as possible without touching.

I rock a Razor HD Gen3 on my AR (Barrett Rec7), wirh a Vortex Precision mount.

The 3-9x40 with a duplex reticle is standard for hunting, offers quick target acquisition, good light, wide FOV at 100 yards, and duplex reticle isn't cluttered, easy to judge distance with the duplex reticle. Get the best that you can afford, don't go cheap on rings, mounts, and lens covers either.

Leupold VX-3HD 2.5-8x36mm. Mounts low on your rifle and weighs 11.8oz.

The Fullfield II 3-9X40 used to be available with either their Plex Reticle (#200161) or their Ballistic Plex Reticle (#200160) but their website says the Plex is discontinued. A site called elitetacticalcomponents.com shows the Plex in stock for $184.07 but I would call to ascertain that. Don't know anything about the company but they do have a FB page for what that's worth.
