That’s an incredible deal. I feel really bad for everyone in Africa, this Covid is really destroying them. I hope they are able to get back to business as soon as possible.

My wife and I have a trip booked to Namibia for September 2021 that includes trophy fee for two gemsbok. The hunt was a full donation at an auction, we got it so cheap I feel guilty. We plan on extending our stay and hunt and will add a bunch more animals of course.

I know it says the above, but does the $1900 also include the above trophy fees? (I know it says that...but that's really low so just making sure)

I love Namibia, I was there in 2008 and last year. North or South? In the north there are Mountain Zebra (Hartsmann) one of the few places that you can export them from and one animal that I still have to get.

This is a package, trophy fees are included. Outfitters are literally starving right now and need to get hunters there. They're also hoping that you'll shoot extra animals while you're there for the extra trophy fees.

The weather will be the opposite of North America March compares to September here. Probably high 80+ degrees during the day with some humidity. Mosquitos are probable so I would recommend a Malaria prophylactic like Malarone.

It is guaranty to see shootable animals of all species since most of South Africa is hunted behind high fences of 5000 - 20,000 hectares (19 to 80 square miles)

Taxidermy is optional many people just take photos.

Taxidermy can be done there or in the U.S. Shoulder mounts run $500-$600 or so but tanned flatskins cost less than $100 each, Euro mount (skulls and horns on plaques) cost about $150. 8x10 photos framed are really cheap though. A shoulder mount of a Gemsbok, the rest as flat skins and Euro mounts would cost about $1,500 and plan for about that same amount in shipping. This would be paid half of the taxidermy bill when you drop them off and the other half when it's ready to ship 6 months later and you would pay the shipping then. So it gives you time to save up for it.

I tip 15% of the total same as I would in a restaurant, usually $50 to the tracker/skinner (total) $25 for the maid/cook and the rest to the PH.

South Africa is dangerous in the big cities but the PH will pick you up at the airport arrival gate and drive you directly to the farm. No one bothers the hunting farms because all the people there are armed. Many PHs in SA carry Glocks all the time though.

Lodging and food will be like a resort here in the States, home style cooking but very good, it's hard not to gain weight on one of these trips.

South Africa has lifted all Covid Restrictions for tourism.

I'm going to add a bunch of links on the posts that I did earlier about hunting in Africa with how to hunt and how to pick outfitters, what to hunt, travel and packing tips etc.

I've made three trips to Africa and hunted on two of them - twice in Namibia and once in South Africa. It's unlikely Frank and I have been to the same places or hunted with the same people but I've had the same kinds of experiences he describes in this thread. Generally speaking the outfitters in both countries are professionals and treat their clients well. I've gotten the animals I wanted and had a great time to boot. If you have the means and have wanted to do a hunt in Africa, this deal looks pretty good and the timing is right, because by then you should be able to get a vaccine if you're so inclined (I am).

The meat is left for the locals?

And you would rent a rifle as opposed to bringing one?

These are INCREDIBLE prices. This would be a phenomenal hunt by the sounds of it. Has anybody gone through this outfit before?

What other costs would be incurred that are not shown here? For those guys who have done this type of hunt before, I'm SURE there are other costs involved other than the flights.

The meat stays there thanks to USA rules.
I prefer to bring my own rifles(2) but they usually have good ones to rent. I did shoot a couple of my outfitter/PH rifles just for fun and some night hunting(suppressed) for camp/employee meat. That was fun.
Other costs--Transportation to/from Africa/items you want to buy to bring home for yourself and gifts for others/Red Heart Rum to bring to me(I will pay you for it)/any tours you may want before or after hunting/Some people book a tour while hunting also/prep of animals for shipping and then the shipping cost/cost to mount animals or do skins either there or in the USA
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

Meat is left for the locals. Even if you could reach agreement with the landowner to take some of the meat, it would be no small task to import it.

I'd probably bring my rifle because it's what I'm comfortable shooting, but there are advantages to renting one instead, especially if you decide to do some sightseeing before or after your hunt.

The outfitters all have loaner/rental rifle usually in 270, 30.06 , 308, 7 or 8 mm Mauser, etc. They're not afflicted with American magnumitis.

I hunted with one PH who had been a professional hunter for 20 years and had never shot a 375 H&H. I let him try mine after he saw how it flattened a blue wildebeest and he bought a 375 Ruger that year.

I bring my own rifles for the confidence factor of knowing my gun and load and because I'm left handed.

Same here. Also, half the fun in hunting is using your own rifles. Plus, I am a lefty as well.

One additional thing to consider also is one does not need to go just for the duration of the hunt. One can also turn it into a sightseeing trip after the hunt either in South Africa or take a local flight to Victoria Falls etc. with their significant other.

A lot of bang for the buck.
