Need to buy a new scope for a backup pig gun. It will be a Savage 30-06. That part is set.
I have always put Leupold glass on my guns and been happy with it. It seems to me that when I put my eye behind a Leupold scope, everything in the field of view is immediately visible, even at 9x magnification.
Some of my friends have various Vortex scopes on their rifles, and when I shoot them, eye placement behind the scope seems super critical, to where I cant usually see a whole sight picture unless my eye is in the one PERFECT position behind the recticle. In spite of this, these shooters, who I respect greatly, continue to buy Vortex scopes.
Disclaimer: I have always used 3-9 Leupolds, and these Vortex scopes are 14-24x at max. So I haven't been comparing apples to apples. Hence my questions in this thread.
Im planning to put a Leupold 4.5-14 vx3i on this gun. Is there any reason to do something different?
Shots on game will be limited to ~250 yards. I wont be adjusting elevation in the field.
