The best trout lure I ever used was handmade in Alaska by tribal person in Soldotna. I was a small aluminum and handpainted to look like small doly varden smolt. I used it in a tournament in 2011 on gull lake and my 5 fish limit was 19 lbs. I let my buddy use it and he promptly lost it. I have been back to Alaska 6 times since then and have nevr found the match r the guy that made it . He was selling lures at Centennial park in Soldotna. My best fish was an 8 lb 6 ounce rainbow and is hanging on the wall at gull lake marina concession with my name on it. I wish I had a pic of it.

I really like the swimming action! Is it the three piece design that creates it? What material is the tail made out of?

I've always wanted to try that. I don't really fish a lot with poppers around my neck of the woods and there are Largemouth and Smallmouth but generally speaking they tend to go after worms and bottom glur's rather than tap water. I'm not sure why but it seems as though everything I've ever thrown on top water other than a frog has just been a big flop.

All my frog poppers have embedded weights to mimic a frog at rest in the water. I get plenty of strikes and hookups when the popper is in the resting position, just have to be careful about too much slack line when doing this.

I've tied flies, but I've really always wanted to make my own inline spinners. One day...

No government deprives its citizens of rights without asserting that its actions are "reasonable" and "necessary" for high-sounding reasons such as "public safety."
A right that can be regulated is no right at all, only a temporary privilege dependent upon the good will of the very government
officials that such right is designed to constrain.

I used to tie flies. Not anymore. My eyes aren't what they used to be.
My mother always told me to be careful what you ask for.

Just one more piece of parental advice I stupidly ignored.

I bought some steelhead lures off of a guy locally here in Idaho and they are SOOOO much better than the stuff you'd buy from any store bought product. NICE heavy chrome plated blades, they are a heavier weight for diving a bit deeper in the streams and rivers while under heavy current. I'll post up some pics if I can swing it.
