What exactly were you hoping for again? There aren't to many places the feds control in this state that you can't hunt.

Look at all the turkey hunting spots available.

The 7000 acre San Joaquin River National Wildlife Refuge should have been opened for hunting years ago.

Win for the northies. It is a good start. Now open up hearst ranch to public hog and deer hunting. (LOL)

This is a good thing. We should be thankful for what we got here in California. In addition, there are many more places being added throughout the country.

Well...turkey populations have been soaring out of control, while pheasant populations are near non-existent. Ex: Gray Lodge used to shoot ~1000 birds on opening day. Now more turkeys are shot on opening day by pheasant hunters than pheasants. They have to plant birds to provide an opportunity for pheasant hunters.

I'm not gonna poopoo any new opportunities, but this wasn't part of some "design" to increase participation in our heritage. Just hunters in their role of population control.
