July 1, 2019, just like he said.

I switched over to monometal bullets years ago by choice rather than by law but I feel for you guys who like the conventional bullets.

I've shot three game animals with cup and core bullets in the last 10-12 years against multi-dozens of animals with lead free bullets.

Is there any ammo that is not stolen but not lead too?

I thought capitol was being sarcastic. All non lead ammo must be approved by ca dfw. There is a large list online on approved ammo and projectiles. This ban has been phased in for years. This is no surprise unless you got into hunting or moved here last month. And FYI you cannot be in possession of any lead ammo while hunting. Only exception is self defense use in a sidearm.

For shotguns, there is Bismuth and "Heavy shot" that are lead free and not steel but both are much more expensive than steel (or lead).

Rifle and pistol ammunition is basically copper, the brass bullets contain a small amount of lead and are not CA. approved.

Hunt out of state. Don't give California any license fee money.

Not feasible for everyone and all circumstances.

I aint driving hundreds and hundreds of miles to bird hunt. Not to mention out of state licenses, fees, gas, food , lodging, blah blah blah.

Big game? sure if you can afford it.

Where does one obtain lead free .22LR?
