Mendocino and Lake County upland bird and small game

My wife and I love camping and hunting in Mendocino national forest above upper lake and all over the area, but after the fires we are having trouble finding places to hunt and camp (talking birds, squirrel, deer, Turkey) within three hours of Sonoma county any info on the MNF or other areas would be great, thanks

Most of that is going to be closed for a while right? How far up is it closed? Maybe you can access from Covelo if there isn't too much snow.

I wouldn't go chasing quail...weather looks rough next couple weeks and getting in through covelo or alderpoint will be hard...I don't think you have any access from lake as all of the burn zone is closed until July 2019. It might be a better idea to wait until spring turkey time and see how things look...April always come quicker than expected.

Cache Creek is wide open. If you want to drive another 14 miles east, you can camp at cowboy camp just off HWY 16.

IVR is nothing but charcoal now
