    Prado Basin access

I have a johnboat with blind and decoys. Anyone know where the access is for hunting behind dam? I will take anyone with access with me.

I know they do youth hunts back in there but most of the rest is private duck clubs last I heard.

The Finley-Ramer unit of the Imperial Wildlife unit is boat-only. I know the Kern national wildlife refuge allows boats in some areas too. Prado is basically 3 private clubs - you can start with Raahauge’s. They offer day hunts but they’re pricey at $200. I know you basically have to use a boats out there when the basin floods

OK thanks I know kern is flooded now and releasing water. first hunted Kern in 1964. I was hoping with boat to get back behind dam on flooded areas.

Prado is all private, they don't need help with boats. $$$$$

                Call USACE and ask.

I have a cousin that was an ATT Tech, he had a key to a gate that lead to a section of private property off of River Road, right up from where the Santa Ana river run into the dam. That area is state land, some county, back there by Butterfield Airport, and the old Desi Arnaz Ranch, scout around there and the Airport.

And go out there on Pomona Rencon Road and look around, back in the day, there was access down from where the Monster Drink warehouse is today (previously Certified Grocers, it was off of Pomona Rincon Road).

Also call and ask the Archery range folks, the range near Parado Park (visible from the 71), then call Prado Park...

Thanks I do not want to trespass on hunt clubs and I doubt they have all the hunting area. Just need access to flooded area.

Have you looked at hunting Lake Henshaw or Lake Cuyamaca near San Diego?

ACOE should def be able to help you.

You also have a state constitutional right to recreational access to state waters. I don't think anybody can stop you from floating down the SAR.

Is your problem that there is no public access to launch?
