This is prime scouting time. The archery opener for deer is only about 6 weeks away. I'm checking & possibly moving my trail camera this weekend to check activity at another spot. I got to run some trails last weekend. I may yet get to hike a new trail soon that runs just above my usual hunting area but I've never taken the time to see. I may yet take the boys backpacking.
I restrung my recurve after not shooting for a month or so & flung a few arrows. I've definitely gotten rusty at the standing shot but shot great seated on the ground, for whatever reason. Rifle practice is year-round with airguns -- thankfully. I haven't shot my deer rifle for a few years -- last shot was to take a deer & haven't put a round through it since. So I need to get to the range to confirm zero. I may take it out this year during the rifle season so I need to recheck everything. Lots to do, so little time.
