    Fishing Charter Bay Area

Looking to do a fishing trip in the bay area. Whole day, halibut or rock fish. East Bay dock would be easier. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Best bet is to call the Emeryville sportfishing fleet. You can Google their Web site for fishing reports. I believe the halibut are still in the bay, but you have to work through a lot of undersized ones to get a keeper. It has been several years since I went rock fishing out of S.F. Bay, but they were tiny compared to the less-pressured rock fishing out of Santa Cruz. Good luck.

Fished on the Happy Hooker many times. Great boat and they get into the fish.

Fishing charters run out of Berkeley and Emeryville.

          The Happy Hooker is good.

Get on a 6 pack unless you wanna be around drunks all day who define fishing as a pass to start drinking at 5am.

Do you want to charter (book the whole boat) or just go fishing on one of the charter boats? If you want to charter the boat, it depends on how many are in your group as to what is the best boat for you. If all you want it to go fishing with a few friends or solo I would recommend the California Dawn.

For 6 pack operations Barbarian sport-fishing seems to get good recommendations over at bloody decks but I've never fished with him.

I appreciate all the responses. I have contacted all recommendations.

Emeryville seems like a pretty solid option at this point. Happy hooker is all booked up, and I am waiting to hear back from Californian Dawn. Planning on going late next week. Not sure if it will be a halibut/stripper trip or rock fish.

Must be a newer boat. When I fished with Cliff Anfinson back in the 80's, the old Bass Tub was slow as tortoise. But we caught fish!
