CO OTC Elk

Thinking of doing my first elk hunt ever in Colorado this year. I hunted mule deer in Idaho last year and saw a ton of elk and it piqued my interest. It seems as if quite a few people on here have hunted elk in Colorado, so I was wondering if anyone has any tips, best season (2nd or 3rd) and good starting points. I've been all over the CO dfg website and scouring maps and am driving myself crazy trying to pick an area. I've been looking in southwest Colorado at units 75,751, and 77. Thanks!
