Santa Barbara Canyon Rd. near New Cuyama

Anybody been up Santa Barbara Canyon Rd. off Hwy. 33 near New Cuyama recently? I wonder how far up it I can drive. USFS in Frazier Park told me it was closed to vehicles until late April. Don't mind hiking a few miles but wonder exactly where I park. Does the landholder at the bridge where the creek crosses the road (and where I assume the closure begins at the NFS boundary) mind people parking on the road? I'll be driving a Korean econobox, so it won't exactly eat up the right of way.

Any experience gratefully accepted--I haven't been up there for years.

Just went up there weekend before last. Had not been there before.
It was paved and easily driven all the way to the closed gate, where the ranch I think you are describing was. I parked at that bridge. One other car was there. Hiked about 3 miles past the gate on the dirt road to the boundary of the Dick Smith wilderness. No problems with the car when we got back.
Beautiful area and wilderness access- hope to get back again before it gets hot this summer.

Went up last Oct. and the road was open and in good condition no 4wd needed. Drove in about 10 miles past the ranch and gate.
