Non lead 6.5 CM offerings ?

Getting close to the purchase of a new Creedmoore based rifle. I like all I hear about the round.

Rifle will be mostly for hunting in CA, but some range time also.

But 2019 lead ammo ban coming to fast for my liking.

Now if this were lead bullet loading's, I'd not ask, but this new law has me wondering how it might work out, one shot kill with new ammo, & this lame new law.

What say CG's, about what Factory loaded ammo (bullet type/manufacturer) in non lead for 6.5 CM ?

Hoping to get good terminal results at 400yds or less on dear size game, more likely 200yd or less.

I may reload for this later, but for now just needing something that works well.

    Thanks.

What gun are u gonna be shooting? My tikka likes the hornady GMX and the federal premium trophy copper. It doesnt like the barnes ttsx. Factory ammo is limited to 120 gr ammo. Im sure if you will be reloading later u can find something with a little more umph.

The 3 listed above are your options. I've used Hornady and Federal in 7mm and both shot well. Try all 3 and find which one your gun shoots best.

And the general rule for copper is to go lighter and faster than lead.

Hornady GMX surprised me with some good groups in my 6.5 creedmoor. However, I currently just reload the Barnes 127 grain LRX for a 6.5 cm and a 6.5-284 with good accuracy in both.
Its an expensive hobby, but more expensive when you try and convince yourself you don't need what you really want.
