    Favorite Rifles & Shotties

I know we all have a few different ones, but which ones get to come out and play most often?

My father gave me a 300 Win Mag very early on which was my primary hunting rifle for decades. I have retired that rifle because it didn't like the switch to the higher pressures of this new copper ammo we have to use. I replaced it with a Winchester Model 70 in same caliber, but I am actually using a 30.06 most often.

I have a real nice Winchester 70 Supergrade I bought for my son, and a Ruger M77 Hawkeye stainless/synthetic, both 30.06, and they get into the field very frequently. The Winchester has a Bushnell Elite 4200 4x12x40 and the Ruger has a Nikon Monarch 4x10x42. Good solid performers. The Ruger is an absolute laser.

The shotgun I use is a Rem 870. It is bulletproof and versatile. I would like a nice over/under, but just cannot justify the cash.

I very recently got a Henry AR7 and it is awesome! 4 bunnies in 4 shots on the first day playing with it.

What are your favorites, and which ones actually get into the field the most?

I'm baffled by this statement: non-lead ammunition is loaded to the same SAAMI spec as lead bullet ammunition.

I am just a layman and don't know for sure, but I am just assuming it is because of the hotter ammo.

It still shoots, but it is hard to lift and pull back the bolt. Very hard. It started doing that about the time I started using copper, which has higher speed, and I assumed it has more pressure.

It IS the only rifle of mine that didn't make the switch. If it is something else and fixable, I would be thrilled. That rifle has been very reliable over the years until recently.

They are. I was fortunate to get mine about 18 years ago from a friend who passed away. It is possibly the most accurate "big game" rifle I've owned. I've used it a lot and will treasure it. Those Finnbear's are indeed great. Thanks.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.
