    Almost Springbok Slam

I hunted SA May 2017 and almost shot a Springbok Slam.
I did not finish it because I did not get a Copper Springbok.
I did not shoot a Copper for 2 reasons. First the cost was too much(especially since I took a Spiral Slam) and Two the copper looks too much like a common Springbok to me and not worth the cost just to say I did it.
Here are photos of my Common, Black and White Springbok from 2017 and a Common from my 2013 trip in the field and on the wall.

A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

Nice animals. The black springbok looks a lot like a blesbok but smaller. I didn't realize there was so many different springbok's.

I thought pretty hard about shooting a white and black a couple months ago, but stuck with the common, so I could afford the other stuff I wanted as well. Cool critters, love the way they look!

Nice animals, Doug. I couldn't see it on the others, but the white one shows evidence of very good shot placement!
Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

All were one shot kills using a 257W and 120gr Swift A-Frames or 100gr Barnes TTSX. I did a bit of shuffling of brass brands and got both to shoot within 1/2" vertically of each other with the hottest loads over my Chrono.
We did a sort-of measurement on the Black and it will be a SCI Gold animal. The others I have to wait a few days and measure them along with the other animals to see how they score. That is not really what matters to me. I just like an animal that will look good on the wall as well as in the photos.
