New owners for fishing lodges in Alaska?

A couple of the fishing lodges I've been to have new owners. Guys with deep pockets, but not much lodge owner/guide experience.

    Lawyers, doctors, etc.

I'm having a hard time committing to an Alaskan lodge, when the contact number is a lawyer in Los Angeles. Do you guys think the owner makes a difference?

Probably not, unless he fired the help and got new people in there. We used to hunt at a place in Mexico. New owner didn't change a thing (a good thing).

It depends. There has been times new owners purchased the Lodge as a way to supplement their own adventures and have all their buddies up to fish. Sort of like buying the cow so you and all your friends don't have to pay for milk. But, if you're not one of their buddies, you may not be treated as such.

Other times, they do it as an investment and really want to see the business succeed.

How big of a Lodge are you looking at?

In my experience they start out great but then fall way short.
Now if your talking 5 star & expensive they will make it......most of the time

Look around like BD there's people in the know over there

Unproven is unproven. Why take your chances?
