The vid is here for those who would rather watch:
Now for the story:
We stayed close to home and pretty much just took the puppies for a walk. Ran into a 3 other hunters with their weimariner who had picked up one bird. As we hit the back end of the reservoir, I went to check the pond for ducks when I bumped a covey tucked away from the hunters up in the hills. Took 3 shots at 3 different birds and nailed the last one. In a funny turn of events, the birds all flushed toward the girlfriend on the main road. Louie (the mini lab mutt) was able to find and flush out the singles, the first which I dropped, the second which put a tree between he and I, and the last one which I shot at but hit nothing but branches. Can't wait till next year! I'm training with both Louie and Penny (the cocker spaniel) using George Hickox's "Training the Upland Retriever" so next fall should be even better!
