Hunting in Hawaii?

How many of you guys have hunted in Hawaii? My wife wants to try hunting for the first time on our vacation to the islands. She loves venison but has always been that "girly girl". This last year she started shooting with me and wants to give it a try.

I'm thinking about a guided axis deer hunt.
Any advice?

Anyone have any recommendations? Trying to keep the price around $2000.

Hit TOF there's a taxidermist that hunts axis every spring on HI and of course feral goats are fun to chase.

I've bow hunted boars on Maui before killed a good tusker with a small body tasted good.

The gun laws can be challenging, make sure you are well informed on the regulations. I have never hunted HI, I plan to, and have researched some. Lanai is good bet for Axis deer. I think Big Island good for other species, DIY hunts otherwise find a reputable guide. I've seen goats all over the Big Island, I hear from locals it's easy to stalk them. Hunting lava flows make sure you have extremely durable boots.

Island hunting

If ur gonna be on Maui catch the ferry to Lanai . Use to be that you'd be able to shoot out if ur vehicle . Contact DLNR to confirm that it's ok to shoot deer from inside ur vehicle rent a jeep & get hunting . Surely your wife would love the comfort of rolling around while standing with a view from over the rollcage . Lanai always had had a large concentration of deer & many boars also .
