I bet (hope) the albacore show up this year, not a ton but plenty more than the last two years.

I keep my boat in Long Beach. 24' Robalo center console.

Here is a yellowtail fishing video I made when I went out fishing 4th of July 2015.

Fished the 267 spot, 14 mile bank, and Avalon Bank. Caught a 16 pound (shown in video) and 22 pound yellowtail.

Pretty cool video. That song reminds of Pennywise.

I'm looking forward to it. I went after Yellow fin a couple of years ago and it was awesome. I've been on a few rock fish trips recently and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to better weather and using the new rod I got for Christmas.

Well, when the lead singer, Jim Lindbergh briefly left Pennywise, he started a band called Black Pacific. That is one of their songs.

Thankfully Pennywise is all back together again.

My buddy got back early this morning on 1 1/2 day to colonet. No yellowtail and a few small rockfish at 400 feet. Bad trip. Windy and rainey and the bite shut down. Glad I did not get my passport back in time.

I'm excited for sure. Getting a little skeptical though the albacore will make an appearance. I'm starting to get the feeling they learned to stay farther offshore.

I wish the rain would quit for a minute, the water is too dirty to dive and I gotta stock the freezer with lobster before the season ends. Not ready for summer yet.

I am actually hoping that ocean temps return to normal. I know folks love the warm water sticking around in So Cal for decent short-range fishing, but the unpredictable temps the last few years have really screwed up Pelagic runs everywhere else.

Southern Baja and Sea of Cortez have been hit hard, with some runs (like Dorado) not happening at all. Cold water species like Albies, and bait runs like Anchovies have been **** in this warm cycle. The bad red tides over this warm water period have just decimated inshore fishing in many spots as well.

I hope water temps, and the fishery, returns to normal this year.
