What Lead Free/Non Toxic Ammo for Turkey Season

I've only ever hunted turkey with a bow and never a shotgun. So I know now that everything has to be lead free/non toxic and was just wondering what everyone is shooting. Thanks.

5 bucks a shell is nothing.....one or two shots a year is a drop in the bucket when it comes to overall cost.

Steel is all about speed the more pellets the better and always pattern your loads

          Don't want to miss.....

HeviShot here too. Seem's prices have gone up this year. $29.99 for a box of 5 shells (12ga).

I may experiment with Bismuth (splitting the difference between steel & lead). Less than 24hrs, and the sale price is over. $18.49
            .
            $22.99 for box of 25 (12ga 3" 1-1/2 oz #4's @ 1350 fps)
            $21.99 for box of 25 (12ga 2-3/4" 1-3/8 oz #5's @ 1350 fps)
            $20.99 if you want 3" 1-3/8 oz @ 1450 fps

I bought two boxes of hevi shot blend I believe. 10 rounds for $30. I just need one to pattern good and then that will probably last me 2 years before I run out.

Get the best. And keep in mind, the shotshell ammo is the CHEAPEST part of your hunting trip.

This is very true. I do have new shotgun I need to pattern, so I may opt for the bismuth.

Of course you could go the direction of loading your own heavi-shot.. it's a bit cheaper.. though a tad on the difficult if not impossible to find flight control wads..

Another hevi shot guy here. 3 1/2" #4,5,6 blend. Bought three boxes of 5 about seven years ago, I'm at seven shells left. So the cost factor is really high up front, but you just don't go through them that fast. Once I shoot these last seven there may be something better, but if not I'll be going to the 3" 4,5,6 blend. This 3 1/2" r's just flat out put a thumping on you!
We'll just give them the 'ol number 6.

For my Benelli, the heavy shot turkey choke produced the best pattern. It was the fifth one I tried. You'll have to see what works best for your particular gun.

I had to buy a hevishot specific Hunter Supply Undertaker choke for my Beretta. I still need to pattern it but there ya go....
