Ha ok so I got a call Thursday night asking if I wanted to come hunt for the weekend and kill a ram. Of course I accepted the offer. I asked what I needed and I was told to show up Friday with myself and a rifle. Roger that. Lol. I mostly bow hunt so I just grabbed this rifle as it was the only one i had sighted in already. The rifle is a build that started out as a box store savage 11 308 scope combo that got way out of hand haha. All that's left is the savage action. But it is a sweet shooter and super quiet.

A bit about the hunt, it was sponsored by an awesome organization called Freedom Care Warrior Project. Awesome folks and a great organization. They took myself and two other vets out for the weekend and fed us the whole time. I shot this painted desert sheep, and the other two guys shot Catalinas. We saw all kinds of animals out there. Beautiful ranch and our guide David was great. I chased this ram all over Saturday. Had a perfectly clear shot earlier in the day, he was up on a hillside about 350 yards away and nothing in the way. Except the giant ravine between us haha. I asked the guide how close we could get with the ranger and he said were there. I didn't feel like climbing that steep mountain with a bloody dressed ram on my shoulders so the chase continues. Caught up with him a bit later and had about a hundred and seventy yard shot. He was between two trees and quartering hard away. I could see his shoulder and rear end so I took the shot. The camera guy caught him on film going down about thirty yards away. Oh yeah, they filmed all weekend and will be airing the hunt on tv sometime in October/November. So that's pretty cool.

Had an awesome time and met some cool guys. All of us vets that got invited out have been in touch since and already have another hunt planned together and the president of the organization that took us out is coming along with us on that hunt.

Hopefully I'll have another pic/story for Yall in a few weeks. Heading out and going after an axis buck with my bow.

Is that one of those painted desert sheep that you see on the Texas ranches? Those are much prettier than the usual Corsicans.

Nice ram, I don't know exactly what that is but it's very pretty with a big curl and I would shoot one just for the shoulder mount. If you wouldn't mind post up a hunt story in here since it's a really slow time of year.
