I heard that base is pretty good for hunting them.

Buy some hand calls a rabbit distress is good to start with. Youtube has some great videos explaining on how to call. It's pretty simple a rabbit in distress sounds like a baby crying.I have called people in with that sound on the fox pro caller looking for a crying baby that does not exist.
Look for tracks and places with cover sit down and start calling. When you see one coming in only move when they are not looking at you or else they will be gone in a flash. The main problem with handcalls is they will find your location pretty fast those ears work real good. You can get a dog toy like a fox and put it on a stick to distract them as they come in.
I can go on and on but if you can find a mentor it would make the learning curve easier.
      good luck

Nice racks are much better. You can grab both sides of the rack to help stabilize while mounting.

I started hunting coyotes by buying and reading books and internet blogs. I don't get out often (too much work and family obligations) but would be glad to take you along next outing.

BTW, I was stationed at Camp Pendleton, and I recommend checking in with the base game unit. If you can get permission to hunt coyotes on base, that would be the best spot in county.
